Have you ever wondered if gender is affecting the ability to progress professionally? The statistics on gender equity in the design and technology sectors are not good (even the best performer still only employs 23% women). The gender pay gap is 70 cents to the dollar, and based on the current rate of leadership progression, it will be 2085 before we reach parity of women and men in equal positions of leadership.

In order to reach equality, we need to find ways of enhancing equity ––equal access to the resources we need to flourish, when we need them. In order for equity to be implemented in our workplaces, we need to foster empathy all around. Through this toolkit of creative interventions, you will explore dynamic ways of enhancing leadership, busting cognitive bias, empathy building and the power of organic mentorship.

Designer and sociologist Dr. Leyla Acaroglu partnered with the Women's Lead Initiative at AIGA to explore some of the structural forces that are preventing women from achieving equitable access to leadership positions within the design sector.
